The Martin Luther King, Jr. 2023 Day of service was a phenomenal event hosted by The Cascade BMA. There were more than 100 volunteers that hit the streets and helped clean up the Cascade Corridor. We covered the 285 on ramps, underneath the overpass, the gazebo, Research Drive, Utoy Springs and all the way up to Tires Plus and Life Storage. We had over 60 bags of trash for collection.

Thank you to our partners: Chick-Fil-A, who donated boxed lunches, Walmart provided coffee and beverages. Walgreens also provided beverages and water for all who participated. Special thank you goes to Mr. Sam Thompkins of Another Way Out and The Cascade Driving Range for letting us gather at your place.

Our very own City of South Fulton Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Foster Rowell and College Park’s City Council member Mr. Joe Carn came out and rallied the teams. Our partnership with The Atlanta Black Chamber called their members to action and they came out. The Uma Igbo Unite Organization came out, they were turned away from another day of service and found us online. Pastor Reese of New Calvary Baptist Church came out with members of his church. The Boys Scouts joined us as well to get their Service merit badges and the Russell Center rolled up their sleeves and picked up a bag. And of course, the business owners and residents of the Cascade area pitched in too.

Not only was it a day off, it was a day on and a time of fellowship with like-minded people doing something for the greater good of the community. We thank each and every one of our partners, sponsors and our volunteers and we appreciate you so much. From your Cascade BMA board:  Bobbie Powell, Rich Wilkins, Melford McRae, Dj McRae, Max Anderson, Joel Athy, Sheree Johnson and Patrick Tingling.

We get together every 4th Saturday of the month except for November and December. Be sure to visit our website for more information on the next clean ups throughout the year, we hope to see you join us in keeping Cascade clean.
